Statement
Advertising has become more tailored and personal. People prefer ads that are relevant to them. This creates incentives for advertisers to make ads that are truly tailored to people’s interests and make the most of the internet free. When you take an action online it generates data and the data can be used to make browsing more personalized. Most social media and online shopping platforms can reach people through personalized content based on demographic social and behavioural data, things like what you’ve done online, your age and your hobbies. Most social media ad platform knows to show you an ad for hiking you without ever telling the advertiser who you are.
The artwork depicts how a big company treats their "employees" as a tool to monitor and collect our personal data as a record for target marketing and selling products through advertising. The code on the bottom of the arrow shows how ads location targeting allows your ads to appear in the geographic locations that you choose.
